Our Name

Sprezzatura : SPRETZ - ah - TOO '- rah

"sprezzatura" is Italian for "having or creating things of beauty and style in a relaxed and nonchalant manner". And since Italy and Italians have impeccable style, without trying too hard, what better word than 'sprezzatura'? It's design that is alluring and stylish, yet relaxed and approachable. A way of creating art (design) as to appear without effort.

Our Process

Our design process is a little different than “traditional” methods. We work with you online, tailoring to each client's specific needs and preferences. We start by getting to know you and your vision for your space, and we work with you every step of the way to ensure that the final result exceeds your expectations. This process is far more affordable than hiring an "in-person" designer, so you can increase your actual design budget and use your savings on furniture and accessories. Your Designer

Hi, I’m Terri Lee. I have been obsessed with design and home decor my whole life. It started when I was 5 years old and would beg to go to see model homes and into the city to look at the buildings and architecture. Then, back at home, I would spend hours building my own furniture and furnishing my miniature play homes. Soon I was drawing floor plans and doing sketches of exteriors and interiors.

Fast forward to now, having designed 3 homes from inception to completion, one being in Italy. My styles and tastes are very eclectic and I love experimenting with color and pattern. I do, however, appreciate a serene and calm neutral palette as well. In fact, I am educated in, and specialize in creating designs for my Neurodivergent clients which are soothing, safe and calming.

Because my costs as a designer are much lower working online, I am able to pass on substantial savings to my clients. That has opened the door wide open to people who could not afford to hire an “in person” interior designer, and also for potential clients who want more flexibility and involvement in the process.

What makes Studio Sprezzatura unique?

Studio Sprezzatura is unique because we take a holistic approach to interior design. We consider not only the aesthetics of a space, but also its functionality and the client's lifestyle. We are also educated in design for neurodivergencies. And, most importantly we do this almost all online, saving our clients lots of money. I know, we are always ok with saving money.

What is the experience of Studio Sprezzatura's designers?

The designers at Studio Sprezzatura have years of experience in the interior design industry. They have worked on a variety of projects both designing home interiors, and landscaping both in the U.S. and abroad. We are familiar with all design styles and periods and love a challenge.

What IS eDesign?

eDesign is fairly new and really took off in the last few years. Since we don't make site visits or do any structural changes in our designs, we are able to save our clients a good amount of money and they love that. It allows so much more flexibility with your budget and you can choose when to actually order your furniture, etc. Perhaps you want to do it in increments, or want to order things so that they will arrive together.

How long does the whole process take?

Depending upon which design package you choose, and how involved your project is, it can take anywhere from 7 days to 3 weeks (not including receiving your goods) We have no control over the delivery times. That said, doing an eDesign project with us is so much faster than other methods.

But, we won't actually meet our designer?

It's ok. We can do a short video chat if you like and get to know each other. In most of the packages this is already a feature.

How will you create the design without actually seeing the room(s)?

We have an extensive questionnaire that our clients complete and you have plenty of room to make comments and send photos. We also get your room measurements from you with placement and size of all windows and doors, even the sun exposure, and also love to have a few videos and photos of the rooms. It actually works very well. Almost anything can be done nowadays via computer!

I'm a little nervous to hire an interior designer? How do I know that I'll like the design?

Well, we completely understand - it can be a little intimidating and it does take a small leap of faith. But, we realize all of this and try and make it less overwhelming by doing all of the research and sourcing for you, so you will have fewer decisions to make, which makes it less stressful. Also, when you see the depth and range of the questions that we ask you before we begin designing, we're sure that you will feel assured that we "know" you. We are not 'design divas' and will make sure that the design is somehing that feels right to you. We get that it's not our house - it's YOURS.

Do I have to have a lot of computer knowledge to do online design?

Fair question, and a good one, since you will be ordering all of the items. If you can place orders online for products, then you can easily do eDesign. We provide you with the links to purchase, along with the colors/sizes. Don't worry, we will do all of the heavy computer stuff for you.

How much input will I have in the design and can I make changes?

You will have as much or as little as you like. Some of my clients just want me to run with it and others prefer to be very hands on. As far as design changes, each design package outlines how many changes can be made in each design before the final plan is submitted. But, in reality, since you are in control of what to order, you actually have quite a lot of ways to change up the design once you receive it.

I would love to surprise my mom with a home design surprise. Do you offer gift certificates?

Of course! We'd be honored to help any of your friends and family members. The gift of home design is a very thoughtful gift. We have done many college dorm rooms, home offices and bachelor pads via gift certificates.

I'm not sure how to decide on a budget? Do you help with that?

We can give you some honest feedback about your desired budget. To achieve the best results your budget should be aligned with your expectations, but there are ways to maximize a budget to produce amazing results.

I am on the Spectrum and have a hard time finding a way to decorate my small apartment so that it functions for me and also looks nice.

We completely understand that the space where you live needs to help you feel safe, calm, and allow you to focus. We are trained in design for Neurodivergence. Several of my close family members are neurodivergent and I have helped them create surroundings that fit their needs and feel just right for them.
